No. VII - Saïx/Isa ([personal profile] lunarpsychole) wrote 2011-11-26 08:26 pm (UTC)

Saïx in canon is the very definition of 'heartless'--he's cruel, cold, bitter, totally unfeeling, a little sadistic but deeply, deeply repressed. He's very driven and determined, but he's also totally ruthless and willing to sacrifice and manipulate anyone if he feels it's necessary. But underneath the icy facade he creates is someone who desperately, desperately wants their heart back, and is surprisingly jealous at times. Isa in contrast, from what we see of him in Birth by Sleep, is so different from Saïx it totally shocked me. They're both cynical and sarcastic and a little closed-off, but Isa actually had the potential to connect with others. He's a lot more laid-back and quietly appreciative of others than he's willing to say, and that makes a huuuuge difference.

And that's ultimately what I wanted from playing Saïx starting out as Isa in Aather; I wanted him to still retain that bitterness, that aloof coldness that's so intrinsic to his personality, but I wanted him to be able to develop into a human being, into someone who feels genuine emotions as much as he's able to. I think the key difference is hope--Saïx doesn't have any, but Isa just might. And I am excited to play that! \o\ /o/

What's the most surprising thing that's happened to your character so far?
